French onion dip with chips on a wooden platter

LIGHTENED UP FRENCH ONION DIP

Friendly reminder: there is nothing wrong with eating or enjoying a traditional French onion dip. But if you’re looking to get more volume out of your dips, look no further ☺️

Equipment

  • 1 Food processor (or blender)
  • 1 medium saucepan

Ingredients

  • 2 white onions, sliced or chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives + some for garnish
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • sprinkle of sugar

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet on medium to medium high heat and add butter and onions. Allow to cook for about 20 min, stirring occasionally. Add a sprinkle of sugar to help caramelize the onions and cook until caramelized, about 20-30 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  • Add Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion powder, chives, and lemon juice to a food processor. Pulse until the texture is creamy and blended. Add cooled caramelized onions and pulse until thoroughly incorporated. Great as a dip, spread on a rice cake, or to add some flavor to a sandwich!
